Prodigy ISIS XC Crankset

The body, precision forged and CNC machined from 6061 aluminium has an updated styling from the 2001 model. This new styling shaves grammes off the Prodigy XC while offering increased stiffness. Available in a 4-bolt pattern.

The 4 bolt Prodigy Chainrings are manufactured from 7075 aluminium by precision forging and CNC machining. This is in sharp contrast to our competitors, who manufacture via conventional stamping methods using cheaper 6061 aluminium alloys.

For 2002 our chainrings feature our patented S.H.I.F.T. technology. The hard wearing stainless steel S.H.I.F.T. chips are an improvement over single pins commonly found on large ring designs. As the derailleur initiates the upshift, the S.H.I.F.T. chip begins to lift the chain. While the ring continues to rotate, the chain engages the upper portion of the S.H.I.F.T. chip, which guides it smoothly on to the ring. The advantage of using this two step process it that it eliminates incomplete or unsuccessful shifts, allowing you to have complete confidence in the shifting performance of your drivetrain.

In order to extract every PSI of tensile strength from the chosen alloy each set of Prodigy cranks is near net forged. This means the raw forging is patterned to closely resemble the final shape of the crank. This forging process actually alters the grain structure of the aluminium, giving it directional flow consistent with the shape of the crank arm. The altered grain structure makes the crank stronger because the grain flow is not interrupted, thereby eliminating many potential stress risers.
Prodigy cranks now feature built in inner chainring posts on the back of the spider arms. This eliminates the need for inner spacers and allows the use of shorter bolts, further reducing the overall weight of the crank set.
The ISIS drive has secured its spot as the new universal standard for splined cranks and bottom brackets. It's 25-30% stiffer and twice as strong as its square tapered counterpart.
